Currently, every third tooth loss that an adult in Germany over the age of over 40 suffers from is caused by periodontal disease.
However, effective treatment of periodontitis is not only important for the preservation of your teeth. The same bacteria that cause periodontitis in the oral cavity can also attack other organs of the patient's body such as the heart, lungs and blood vessels.
The result is a heart attack or stroke. If the periodontal disease is stopped at an early stage and its spread prevented, this has far-reaching, positive effects on the general health of the patient.
